Women and Social Justice
Written by the renowned scholar Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmad, ‘Women and Social Justice: An Islamic Paradigm’ is the collaborated effort of Institute of Policy Studies and The Islamic Foundation, UK. This monograph is an effort to understand the nature of gender issue in view of the gross misinformation about women’s issues in Pakistan and elsewhere. Referring to some basic assumptions about women’s status in the beginning, the book proceeds on to examine the social, moral and legal issues that are being debated in the contemporary society particularly in the context of the introduction of hudud laws in Pakistan. With the realization that the women situation is marred by injustice, the writer seeks out prescription from Islam while stressing the need to develop an Islamic paradigm that is based on Qur’an and Sunnah and takes into consideration the realities of life in contemporary Muslim society.
