Abstract
[The significance of Middle East for the great powers can hardly be overemphasized. Before the World War II, the region witnessed rivalries among big powers of that time. During the cold war, the competition between the superpowers and the fight for expanding the sphere of influence brought the direct involvement of the US in the affairs of this region. The relied more on its bastion States in the region until the demise of Cold War provided the US an opportunity to exercise its policies without the fear of any competitor. Since then, the US has fought two wars against in the Gulf and supported Israel with military, financial and diplomatic assistance for its supremacy over the politico-economic affairs of the region. The US Middle East policies produced certain consequences for the region, for the US itself and for the world.
