Invited by Maulana Mufti Abdur Rahim, the head of Jamia Tur Rasheed, Karachi, an IPS delegation visited the University on November 26, 2021 and had insightful discussion with it’s officials on the matters of shared interests.
The visiting delegation, which was led by Chairman IPS Khalid Rahman and comprised the Institute’s Vice Chairman Ambassador (r) Syed Abrar Hussain, GM Operations Naufil Shahrukh, Senior Research Officer Syed Nadeem Farhat Gilani, and research officer Hafiz Usama Hameed, was also accompanied by Syed Aziz Ur Rehman, in charge, Da’wah regional center, Karachi.
During the discussion that followed, Rahman apprised the hosts about the Institute’s research work on religious education that is being imparted in the seminaries. He stressed on the need of bridging the gap between modern and religious education in order to better prepare the seminary students for the challenges that lay ahead.
The discussion also touched upon the evolving situation in Afghanistan when Ambassador Abrar shared his experiences as Pakistan’s former envoy to the country and reflected on recent developments as well as on the prospects of improving bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.
There was also a consensus reached among the discussants to form a list of scholars from religious seminaries like Jamia Binoria Alalmia, Jamia Tur Rasheed and Dar-ul-uloom, who were capable of giving their inputs on policy matters, in a bid to connect them with research institutions working in the policy arena and enabling them to play their part in generating academic discourse over mutually concerning issues.
