“Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) is an autonomous, non-profit, civil society organization dedicated to promoting policy-oriented research. Since its inception in 1979, the Institute has provided a forum for informed discussions and dialogues, with the reference points of Pakistan and Islam, on several national and international issues.
Over the past 35 years, IPS has played a meaningful role in facilitating policy makers, legislators and key opinion leaders in devising impact-oriented policies by advising workable solutions and viable alternatives over key issues. The Institute’s applied research – which is carried under the guidance of its ‘National Academic Council’ comprising renowned academics and experts from all across the country – has yielded over 250 publications, 1500 research reports and around 1100 seminars, roundtables and conferences so far.
In 2014, the Institute launched the initiative of IPS LEAD – its Learning, Excellence and Development Program – with the aim of contributing its bit towards creating a knowledge economy for human development and organizational excellence in Pakistan. IPS Press – the publishing arm of the Institute – is another initiative of the IPS while some other innovative ventures are also under consideration.
The task of ensuring superlative research, impact oriented outreach and proposition of new ideas however demands sustainable resources of numerous sorts. It is in this view that IPS looks to extend its work-scope by offering likeminded individuals and benefactors to join hands with the institute and contribute in their intellectual, financial and networking capacities with a view to ensure original, indigenous policy research and advocacy for Pakistan, the Muslim world and the global community.
