Balancing worshiping with professional duties in Ramadan is delicate, yet essential: Dr Habib-ur-Rehman
Neither professional nor religious facets of life should be compromised, but rather harmonized to enrich one’s overall well-being and fulfillment, said Dr Habib-ur-Rehman Asim, associate professor, Bahria University, Islamabad, while delivering a lecture at IPS on the topic of ‘Ramadhan: Ibadaat aur Peshawarana Aukat main Tawazun’ (Ramadan: Balancing Worshiping and Professional Commitments), on March 01, 2024.
This lecture was the first session held as a part of IPS’ Team’s Capacity Building Program for the year 2024-25, aimed at enhancing collective skills, knowledge, and teamwork as well as fostering a culture of continuous growth and learning, both spiritually and professionally.
Asim viewed that balancing religious observances, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, with professional commitments is a delicate yet essential endeavor for many individuals. As Ramadan symbolizes a period of spiritual reflection and increased devotion, navigating work responsibilities alongside practicing religious obligations must be managed through practical strategies.
This requires effective time management and clear communication. Moreover, offering and seeking support from colleagues facilitates a smoother integration of religious and professional duties. He emphasized that prioritizing spiritual reflections is essential for sustaining productivity and well-being. Lastly, reflecting on the intentions behind actions in both spheres of life fosters a holistic approach to achieving a balance between religious devotion and professional responsibilities.
