Condolence meeting for Dr Muhammad Said
A condolence meeting for renowned academic and former senator Dr Muhammad Said was held at IPS on June 18, 2019. He had breadth his last a day earlier on June 17 in Peshawar.
Dr Said, a veteran professor from the University of Peshawar was a PhD in geography from Sheffield University, UK and had dedicated his life to research catering to the policy and strategic needs of Pakistan. He was a former member of the board of governors of the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), Islamabad as well as its National Academic Council. He was also among the founders of Institute of Regional Studies, Peshawar and also ran one Geographical Information Center single-handedly from his residence in Hayatabad, Peshawar, a treasure-trove of strategic maps of the region.
He also remained a member of the Senate of Pakistan in mid 2000s.
Khalid Rahman, executive president, IPS paid rich tributes to the deceased on the occasion for his great life-long contributions for the country. He also reflected upon the Institute’s longstanding association with the professor, also shedding light on various projects that were completed with his invaluable contributions.
The session concluded with prayers for the departed soul.
