The senior academic and international relations expert was one of the founding members of IPS and a leading member of the Institute’s research faculty in 1980s and 1990s. Along with several research papers Amin also authored three books during his association with IPS including Mass Resistance in Kashmir: Origins, Evolution, and Options, Ethno-National Movements of Pakistan: Domestic and International Factors, and Afghanistan Crisis: Implications and Options for Muslim World, Iran, and Pakistan.
Dr Tahir Amin (1952-2019) had served in various leading positions in Pakistan’s higher education sector including as the vice chancellor of Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, and as director of the School of Politics and International Relations, and National Institute of Pakistan Studies in Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.
