Consultation meeting with NEPRA officials on IPS’ study
A five-member delegation of IPS’ research team representing the Institute’s Energy, Water and Climate Change Program led by Naufil Shahrukh, GM Operations, visited NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) headquarters in Islamabad on November 26, 2020 and held a consultative meeting with the regulatory body’s senior officials on a recent study conducted by the Institute: ‘Barriers and Drivers of Solar Prosumage: A Case Study of Pakistan.’
NEPRA was represented in the meeting by Imtiaz Hussain Baloch, Director General (Licensing), Dr Irfan Yousuf, Consultant, Renewable Energy, Muhammmad Rafique Siddique, Director (Licensing) and Shahid Munir, Assistant Director (Tariffs).
A detailed presentation was delivered on the occasion by Naila Saleh, IPS’ Research Officer (Energy, Water & Climate Change Desk) and other team members including M. Hamza Naeem and Sara.
Welcoming the findings and policy recommendations based on the study, the NEPRA officials shared some valuable feedback and guidelines and requested the IPS team to provide further academic input on important policy issues, such as the required revision in the regulations for DISCOs on net-metering.
