Consultative Meeting on Education Policy
Aimed at identifying and bringing into limelight the various issues pertaining to prevailing education scenario in Pakistan, IPS joined hands with the Institute for Research in Education to hold a consultative meeting on key challenges faced by the education sector in Pakistan. The meeting was held at IPS on July 15, 2017.
The meeting was attended by Executive President IPS Khalid Rahman, Professor Dr Mian Muhammad Akram, Professor Dr Rao Jalil Ahmad, Dr Mubasshir Ahmad Siddiqui, Dr Muhammad Nasir, Professor Dr M Izhar ul Haq, Muhammad Yousaf Almas, Dr Qazi Sultan Ahmad, Dr Muhammed Kashif, Tauqeer Hussain and Syed Nadeem Farhat.
The senior academics and experts surveyed the overall scenario and highlighted the issues related to various levels of education in the country. It was observed that despite certain achievements and progress made particularly during recent years, numerous issues required a comprehensive, sustained and concerted effort that involves all stakeholders.
The meeting reached a consensus for continuing joint efforts by the two institutions to gradually attend to the issues in education. It was decided to establish an ‘Educational Dialogue Forum’ with a view to initiate a series of activities planned mutually. An MoU was also signed on initiation of annual dialogue on education, underscoring the need of educational reforms, accentuating best approaches and practices, and advising solutions to persisting problems, while equipping alongside the country’s youth with research and other important skills.
It was agreed that the first annual Educational Dialogue Forum shall be held during this year.
