CPD-Bangladesh Delegation visits IPS
A delegation from Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Dhaka, Bangladesh visited IPS on November 26.
The delegation was headed by Anisatul Fatema Yousuf, Director Dialogue and Outreach while other members include Avra Bhattacharjee, Deputy Director Dialogue and Outreach, Nazmutun Noor, Deputy Director Dialogue and Outreach, Muhammad Nabil, Dialogue and Outreach Associate and AHM Ashrafuzzaman, Senior System Analyst.
Lead Coordinator IPS, Irfan Shahzad briefed the delegation about the vision and mission of IPS. He shared the journey of IPS over past 34 years; focus of research during various periods of its existence under the then prevailing contexts; the working procedures of the IPS in addition to the achievements and contributions of IPS since its inception in May 1979.
During the interactive session, DG IPS Khalid Rahman shared his thoughts on a wide array of issues with the visitors, responding to their questions in detail. The guests expressed keen interest not only in functions and systems of IPS, its resources’ inflow and outflow, performance indicators or evaluation processes, outreach and activities, but also in the prevailing situation in Pakistan and the region.
DG IPS stressed on the importance of depolarization and trust building among different stakeholders in any society. The role of Madrassah in social development also came under thorough discussion. The importance of indigenous resources for the sustainability of civil society organizations (CSOs) – as mean of guaranteeing their minimum independence – was also highlighted during the discussion.
Shahid M. Minhas, Training Manager for Centre for Policy Dialogue at SDPI, while inviting IPS to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between IPS and SDPI, thanked the institute for hosting the delegation.
