DG-IPS speaks at Bahria University’s RTC on ‘National Cyber Security Issues’
DG-IPS was invited by Department of Law, Bahria University, Islamabad to attend and address a roundtable discussion on ‘National Cyber Security Issues: Cyber Crimes to Cyber Warfare’, on October 21, 2016.
The purpose of the discussion was to have a robust, purposeful debate regarding the need and importance of a comprehensive cyber security strategy at national level, especially following the recently passed ‘Cyber Crime Bill’ by National Assembly of Pakistan which dealt with only one aspect of the issue.
DG-IPS delivered an insightful presentation on the occasion titled ‘The Dynamics of War and Cyber Warfare’. He stressed on adopting a comprehensive policy and proactive approach by allocating resources for development of institutions and augmenting the technical and human-resource capabilities to cater the challenges of fast-progressing cyber-world.
He further suggested considering an enhanced strategy to deal with the matters pertaining to this multidimensional world by establishing a separate central authority (such as National Cyber Authority).
