DG-IPS visits Norway to attend Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) advisory meeting
DG-IPS Khalid Rahman visited Oslo, Norway on the invitation of Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) to participate in the second advisory board meeting, held on December 18-19, 2014, in connection with their ongoing project ‘Private Islamic Charity and Approaches to Poverty Reduction’.
It may be mentioned that DG-IPS is part of a seven-member advisory board of the project. Other members of the board include Dr. Masooda Bano, Oxford Department of International Development, University of Oxford, Dr. Jonathan Benthall, University College London, Dr. Christopher Candland, Wellesley College, Massachusetts, Dr. Hafiz ur Rehman, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Shoaib Sultan, The Norwegian CenterAgainst Racism, Oslo and Ingrid Nyborg, Noragric, Norwegian University of Life Sciences.
During the visit, DG-IPS also addressed a seminar titled ‘Blessing or Blockage: Religion and Development in Pakistan’ on December 18, 2014, as a keynote speaker alongside Dr. Masooda Bano.
