DG IPS Visits to China
Khalid Rahman, Director General IPS, was invited to speak on “Relations between China & Developing Countries” in a seminar titled “China’s Peaceful Development and Harmonious World,” organized by Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) in Beijing, November 8-9, 2007.
Mr. Rahman maintained that in spite of much hyped slogan of globalisation itself, the “Technology Transfer” remained far from being realized. While there were efforts and cooperation from the developed countries to assist the developing countries, what the developing world really needed was sustainable development, self sufficiency and capability to deal with their issues themselves on long term basis. He applauded the Chinese concept of development, which was all round and did not focus on material, one-sided development alone. Besides, it strove for harmonized development within its society and among the nations of the world. Mr. Rahman also envied the Chinese efforts of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, with ‘scientific outlook on development’.
