Session on current situation of Middle East
An in-house session on ‘Current situation of Middle East’ was held at IPS on March 19, 2014.
On this occasion, historian, social scientist and academic Qazi Zafar-ul-Haq surveyed recent history of Middle East, highlighted the interests and approaches of various stakeholders in the region and related them to current happenings. He drew attention of the audience to certain prophecies in the tradition of Prophet of Islam (pbuh), which too offer a context for understanding the emerging trends and prospective scenarios.
The session was chaired by Dr. Moeen-ud-Din Hashmi from the department of Hadees and Seerat, Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad. He commended the key-note speaker for his indepth analysis of the situation in Middle East and urged the young researchers to study history and analyze the developing international scenarios in broader perspective.
