In-house session with M. Riyazul Haque
An in-house session was held with IPS-National Academic Council member M. Riyazul Haque, a former civil servant with vast experience of over 45 years in Pakistan and international financial institutions.
In the session, which was held on December 31, 2013, M. Riyazul Haque shared his experiences and observations from his personal and professional life, especially during the periods when he directly worked with leaders of the state including Ayub Khan, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Zia ul Haq and Mohammad Khan Junejo. He also underlined different positive and negative aspects of these political personalities.
M. Riyazul Haque, who had also served as a secretary in Baluchistan, presented his views on the region’s bureaucracy, political leadership, governing system, problems of locals, and their psychology.
He also explained the problems and issues which the government of Pakistan has to face while dealing with the international financial institutions like the World Bank and Asian Development Bank.
In the concluding session, DG-IPS Khalid Rahman thanked M. Riyazul Haque for taking out time for sharing his life experiences. He also hoped that such informative sessions with senior intellectuals will continue to be held in IPS in future as well.
