Intricacies and nuances of legal translation highlighted on Int’l Translation Day
Senior IPS Research Associate Dr Shahzad Iqbal Sham was invited to participate in an event held by Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on September 30, 2024 to commemorate the International Translation Day.
In his speech, Dr Sham discussed the intricacies and nuances of the translation of Black’s Law – the most frequently used legal dictionary in the United States, the final review of whose Urdu translation was done by the speaker himself.
Dr Sham shared valuable insights drawn from their experiences in translating legal texts, effectively conveying the challenges and skills required for such specialized work.
Aimed to enhance understanding of the complexities inherent in legal translation, Dr Sham’s address contributed to a broader discourse on language and law within the context of International Translation Day.
