Aimed at exploring different challenges and prospects that the future might hold for Pakistan, a MoU was signed between IPS and AGAHI – an Islamabad-based not-for-profit organization – on December 28, 2016 to establish Pakistan’s first ‘Foresight Lab’.
This first-of-its-kind initiative was envisaged with a view to examine various assumptions, expectations, envisioning and propositions regarding Pakistan’s future that prevail among the country’s leadership and the masses, while identifying and analyzing emerging risks and opportunities that need be considered in devising country’s plans for the future that are based on data-driven forethought.
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, DG-IPS said that the initiative was very much in-line with IPS’ objectives of promoting policy-oriented, futuristic applied research in Pakistan. He said that IPS was looking forward to play a meaningful role in the venture’s success and hoped that the initiative will contribute towards a positive, brighter tomorrow for the country as well as for the generations to come.
Puruesh Chaudhary, the founder and president of AGAHI said that this institutional collaboration was a big step forward that, being strengthened by IPS’ knowledge reservoir, will focus on creating informed foresight perspectives in Pakistan.
