IPS’ flagship journal ‘Policy Perspectives’ moves to ScienceOpen – a new hosting platform
Policy Perspectives, the flagship journal of Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), Islamabad that is co-published by Pluto Journals, UK, has now moved to ScienceOpen – a new hosting platform – from JSTOR, the previous host.
The development is part of the Pluto Journals, UK’s new agreement with ScienceOpen to host their 21 academic journals, including Policy Perspectives, on the ScienceOpen platform. The new digital platform is set to provide open access hosting services as well as digital journal management system, enabling the publisher to create, host and promote its content more effectively using latest digital technologies.
Being published since 2004, Policy Perspectives has been bringing forth both Pakistani as well as the Muslim world’s perspectives on a myriad of issues to national and global significance. The content of the journal therefore appeals not only to a wide academic and professional readership, but also to an interdisciplinary audience around the world.
ScienceOpen on the other hand is a freely accessible research communication platform and aggregator of scholarly content. The platform currently has over 73 million records of scientific articles, books, conference proceedings, posters, and peer reviews. ScienceOpen’s technological infrastructure facilitates powerful multidimensional search, community curation, and researcher networking. In addition, this new Policy Perspectives’ platform will also provide space and services to the publisher to expand its outreach through provisions starting from open access hosting solutions to enriched metadata and promotional packages to custom-tailored publishing environments.
The move is expected to raise the IPS’ journal’s discoverability, accessibility and usage to 17 times more than the current usage and accessibility by the readers around the world.
