IPS represented in ISSI webinar ‘OIC at 50’
Executive
President IPS Khalid Rahman represented the Institute in a webinar titled ‘OIC
at 50: Strengthening Partnership and Future Prospects’, which was organized by
Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) on September 24, 2020.
The
session, which was addressed by the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood
Qureshi and Secretary General OIC Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen through recorded
messages, was also partaken by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the OIC
Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Executive Director Youth Forum for Kashmir
Ahmed Qureshi, Chairman Board of Governors ISSI Ambassador Khalid Mahmood,
Director General ISSI Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry and Director Research
ISSI Najam Rafique.
Speaking on the occasion, Rahman said that fifty years was a sufficient time for an organization to establish its position and OIC has come a long way in this period becoming a consolidated platform. He said that while OIC has spearheaded institutions which are performing successfully, the less than satisfactory performance of the organization was due to its internal polarization. The platform however remains to be a necessity for the Islamic world, he stressed, albeit with a need of adopting a proactive approach to address the stern challenges faced by the Muslim world today.
