IPS represented in ISSI RTC with ECO Secretary General Dr Hadi Soleimanpour
On behalf of IPS, the Institute’s senior research associate Ambassador (r) Tajammul Altaf attended a roundtable discussion with Dr Hadi Soleimanpour, secretary general, Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), which was organized by Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad (ISSI), on March 14, 2019.
Soleimanpour, in his keynote address, stated that the ECO vision 2025 was the major achievement of Islamabad Summit, expressing full confidence that Pakistan, along with the other member countries, can play a leading role in helping ECO achieve accelerated progress aimed at meeting its goals and objectives.
There was consensus among participants that in order to lead the process of regional development, economic organizations like ECO can play the role of a catalyst and locomotive, whereas the potential of ECO cannot be fully utilized unless member states facilitate linkages with each other and work together in the domain of economic cooperation.
