Meeting with Uzbek Scholars and Diplomats
The geo-strategic importance of the Central Asian Republics makes them essential for Pakistan to have close and improved relations with these states with which Pakistan has historical and cultural relations. Hence, IPS too studies developments in these states.
IPS hosted a delegation of Uzbek scholars and diplomats. HE Oybek Arif Usmanov, the ambassador of Uzbekistan along with Mr. Temur M. Djalilov, second Secretary and guest Uzbek intellectuals Ms. Nodira Ibragimosa, Head of Division of Foreign Office and Mr. Ruzmetov Botirjon Khayitbavich, Research Fellow, Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies visited IPS on December 5. The delegation held an exclusive session with the DG and Research Coordinator Mr. Irfan Shahzad.
The delegates exchanged views on a wide range of issues including Pak-Uzbek relations and scope for improvement, linkages between the Uzbek and Pakistani people. It was agreed during the meeting that IPS will enhance academic relations with the Uzbek counterpart organizations.
Earlier, Mr. Ruzmetov Botirjon Khayitbavich along with Mr. Eldar Islam Shafiq Ullah, first secretary and DCM of Uzbek embassy visited IPS on November 22 and met with the IPS research staff.
DG also participated in a seminar organized by the embassy of Uzbekistan on “The Perspectives on Uzbek – Pakistan Relations and Regional Security” on the occasion of 14th anniversary of its constitution. Mr. Rahman presented a paper on “Global Dynamics and Global Unity of Muslim Ummah as a Paradigm for Regional Stability”. The seminar was also attended by member of the IPS National Academic Council Mr. Fasih Uddin and Research Coordinators Mr. Naseer Ahmad Nawidy and Mr. Irfan Shahzad.
