MoU with the Univ of Turbat | Interactive session on ‘The Role of Academia in Policy Processes’

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between IPS and the University of Turbat (UoT) on May 17, 2022 in a bid to promote and facilitate mutual cooperation fostering dialogue among scholars and policymakers.

The document was signed by Khalid Rahman, chairman, IPS and Dr Ghulam Jan, director, ORIC (Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization), University of Turbat, whereas Prof Dr Jan Mohammad, vice chancellor, University of Turbat, Dr Abdul Saboor Baloch, dean, Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, UoT, Changiz Baloch, assistant professor, UoT, Chakar Hyder, PSO to Vice Chancellor UoT and Muhammad Wali Farooqi, research officer at IPS were also present on the occasion.

The MoU was followed by an interactive session with Chairman IPS Khalid Rahman on the topic of ‘The Role of Academia in Policy Processes’, which was attended by the faculty members and students of the University.

Speaking on the occasion, Rahman talked at length about the role of academia not only in facilitating policymaking at the national level but also in shaping informed public opinion over the matters of public interest. In addition, he also emphasized on the need and importance of furnishing closer ties between academic and policymaking circles with a view to strengthen national policies on the back of concrete research and updated knowledge.

Closing out the session, Vice Chancellor University of Turbat Prof Dr Jan Muhammad presented Chairman IPS with the University’s commemorative shield.
