‘Pak- Turkey Relations’ – Prof Dr Halil Toker’s lecture at FJWU
A lecture on Pakistan-Turkey relations by Professor Dr Halil
Toker from Urdu Language and Literature Department of Istanbul University was
arranged by IPS at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) on November 29, 2019.
Addressing the University students and faculty members present
on the occasion, Dr Toker stressed on the building stronger ties between
Pakistan and Turkey while putting special emphasis on the role of academic
institutions for the purpose. He said that three well-known universities of
Turkey – Istanbul University, Ankara University and Saljuq University – have
established dedicated departments for Urdu language in their campuses, urging
that similar steps should be taken in Pakistan as well for the promotion of
Turkish language in the country.
Sr IPS associate Ambassador (r) Tajammul Altaf, who was
accompanying the Turkish scholar on the occasion, echoed his opinion,
maintaining that the two brotherly Islamic countries need to keep fortifying
their relations by facilitating academic exchanges and people-to-people contacts.
It worth’s a mention here that Dr Toker was visiting Pakistan to
take part in two international seminars organized by IPS on the Kashmir Issue,
which were held in Islamabad and Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir
(AJ&K) earlier in the same week.
