Another in-house session to deliberate on the track II diplomacy on the Kashmir issue in the backdrop of the ongoing India-Pakistan interaction was organized on Dec. 24.

Sardar Khalid Ibrahim, President, AJK Peoples Party; and Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, President, Muslim Conference, AJK were the main speakers. Dr. Waleed also spoke briefly. They had recently been to Nepal to attend conference “Jammu and Kashmir and India-Pakistan Dialogue” organized by Pugwash.
Sardar Attique was of the opinion that the norms set for proceedings of Pugwash confirmed the fact that Kashmir is a disputed territory. He said that there was a consensus among the participants that the process of reconciliation should continue.
Sardar Khalid Ibrahim succinctly disagreed with the idea of achieving consensus on many points since he himself contested a number of points there. The actual group discussions and written minutes gave him the impression of premeditated indoctrination of outcomes. The conference did not come up with any practicable solutions to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which was not even expected he added. IPS Executive Director Khalid Rahman facilitated and summed up the program.
