Six-week Summer Internship Program 2024 concludes
As part of IPS’ broader vision to promote a knowledge-driven economy through human development and the pursuit of individual, organizational, and societal excellence, IPS successfully concluded its 6-week Summer Internship Program 2024, held under IPS LEAD – the Learning, Excellence, and Development program of the Institute, on September 6, 2024.
The internship brought together a diverse group of talented students from universities across Pakistan – such as National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad, Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Islamabad, and Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Rawalpindi, offering them the opportunity to engage in research and editorial work on critical national and international issues.
Under the guidance of experienced supervisors, interns worked on critical topics including Afghan refugees, Pak-Afghan relations beyond the security domain, Pakistan’s economy, and the country’s progress toward a just energy transition. In addition, the interns analyzed global and regional issues such as populism and Islamophobia in Europe, explored the dynamics of elite capture in Pakistan, and examined the intersections of gender and society, including family legislation, and the politics of ethnicity. Their contributions resulted in insightful presentations and book reviews.
This internship program equipped participants with practical experience in research, policy analysis, and editorial practices. By offering a platform for intellectual exploration, the program assisted interns in building foundational skills essential for careers in academia, media, policy advisory, and beyond. It also fostered critical thinking and engagement with national and global issues, reflecting IPS’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of thought leaders.
