The Living Scripts | Ch Muhammad Ashraf (Former Chief Secretary, AJ&K)

The
eighth session of IPS’ series of programs ‘The Living Scripts’ was arranged by
IPS LEAD – the learning, excellence and development program of IPS – with
Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf, former chief secretary, Azad Jammu and Kashmir
(AJ&K), on October 18, 2018.

Sharing his life struggles with the audience, Ashraf told that he aspired to join Army since his school days but couldn’t pursue his dream because of his family circumstances. He however later joined civil services where he went on to serve as Director Food, Director Industries, Director General Rural Development, etc. In addition, he also served as a secretary at various departments in the Punjab Government and was also appointed Secretary Health for two terms. Eventually he retired from the government service as Chief Secretary Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Even after his retirement, Ashraf told, he has remained associated with many government bodies and non-government organizations in honorary capacity.

Speaking of his life accomplishments, the speaker termed the establishment of Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rahimyar Khan as one his most cherished achievements, as according to him, it was founded by Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi upon his request.
