Why Gwadar Port lags behind despite CPEC fervor?

Despite the claims of changing the destiny of Balochistan and Pakistan through transforming Gwadar Port, many development projects related to the port have been halted or slowed down in different stages, causing a stir in the leadership and locals of Baluchistan. This brief focuses on identification of shortcomings in CPECs first phase, specifically in the context of development and functionality of Gwadar port, substantively analyzing the issue from four aspects i.e., technical, political, socio economic and security.
